Portable Cabins for EPC Projects in Odisha: Procurement Checklist

A practical RFQ and BOQ checklist for EPC contractors sourcing site offices, security cabins, storage, sanitation and accommodation units in Odisha.

Plan the cabin package around the work fronts

EPC projects often need more than one cabin type. A project office, meeting room, security post, material store, toilet block and worker accommodation unit have different structural, electrical, ventilation and fit-out requirements. List each function separately before requesting a quotation, then decide which units can share a common layout or specification.

For projects spread across multiple work fronts, identify which units are required at mobilisation, which may be added later and which could be relocated. A phased cabin schedule helps the supplier plan production and transport without treating every unit as an identical order.

What to include in the RFQ and BOQ

Include the project name and exact delivery site, required quantity, external dimensions, internal layout, occupancy, doors and windows, wall and roof construction, insulation, flooring, electrical points, AC provision, plumbing, sanitary fittings, furniture and any equipment clearances. Attach the owner or EPC specification, drawings, bill of quantities and inspection requirements where applicable.

Ask the supplier to mark each line item as included, optional or excluded. The offer should identify the proposed materials, relevant thicknesses or member sizes, finish system, warranty, GST, lead time, transport, unloading, placement and installation scope. Do not assume that electrical, plumbing, furniture or installation is included unless the quotation says so.

Site access, delivery and installation

The delivery plan depends on the route, vehicle access, turning space, unloading equipment, placement area and installation surface. For industrial or restricted sites, clarify gate passes, working hours, safety induction, PPE, vehicle restrictions and any owner-approved delivery windows before confirming the dispatch date.

Where several cabins are installed together, share a site layout showing doors, walkways, access lanes, service routes and the intended position of each unit. Water, drainage, power and earthing responsibilities should be agreed before dispatch so that the cabin can be connected and handed over without avoidable rework.

Compare equivalent technical and commercial scope

A low headline amount is not a useful comparison if two offers use different frame sections, panel thicknesses, floor boards, electrical provisions or installation assumptions. Use the same specification and quantity schedule for every bidder. Record deviations explicitly and request clarification rather than comparing unlike offers.

For a project-specific quote from Al Misbah, provide the site location, cabin schedule, technical specification and target delivery date. The final configuration, availability and delivery timeline are confirmed against the actual scope and logistics.
