Start with the use-case, not the price
The single biggest mistake buyers make is starting with price. Portable cabins are not one product — they are a family of products engineered for very different uses. A guard cabin, a site office and a bunk house have almost nothing in common in terms of structure, insulation or services.
Before you ask for a quote, define: who will use the cabin, for how long, in what conditions, and what services (power, water, AC, drainage) are available at site.
Match the specification to the environment
Odisha's climate — hot summers, heavy monsoon and high humidity — demands specific choices in insulation, coatings and ventilation. A cabin that performs well in a dry, mild climate will under-perform here without modification.
For long-term installations, we recommend PUF insulation (higher R-value, better thermal performance) and anti-corrosion coatings on the MS frame. For short-duration projects, EPS insulation with standard coatings is often sufficient.
Size and layout
Portable cabins are available in standard sizes, and can be customised. As a rule of thumb: allow 40–50 sq ft per workstation for a comfortable office layout, and 30–40 sq ft per worker for accommodation.
Where possible, design for future needs — adding a partition or an attached toilet later is far more expensive than planning for it upfront.
Services: the part most buyers under-plan
Electrical, plumbing, AC and drainage are the most common sources of delay and cost overrun in portable cabin projects. At the quotation stage, confirm:
• Power supply capacity and cable routing • AC load and refrigerant piping provision • Water inlet and drainage • Earthing and lightning protection (if applicable)
Delivery, installation and warranty
Ask for a written delivery timeline, and clarify what is included in installation. At Al Misbah, standard delivery is 7–15 days, and every cabin ships with a 1-year warranty.
Confirm who is responsible for foundation / levelling, and what site preparation is required before the cabin arrives.
Frequently asked questions
With proper maintenance, a well-built MS-frame portable cabin can deliver 10–15 years of service, and often more. Lifespan depends on the specification, coatings and site conditions.
Yes. Portable cabins are designed to be relocated. Repeated relocations do require care in lifting and re-installation — we recommend professional handling.
